- The grateful man is at peace. He walks in the knowledge of all he has been given, and pays little attention to what he may not have. He laughs at the supposed promises of wealth, fame, power, and pleasure. He knows what he has been promised in Christ.
- The grateful man is joyful. Nothing that happens to him, however difficult, can shake his grip on the truth of what God has done. He knows that he is always ahead of the game.
- The grateful man is humble. He knows how little he deserves, and he counts every gift as an unmerited grace. He looks, not at what he doesn’t have, but at the amazing gifts he has been given. Every day is a gift; every relationship is an unmerited gift; everything that goes at all well for him is something from the hand of God that he has no right to.
- The grateful man is a pillar of support for others. Because he constantly lives in the presence of the important truths, he is not shaken by life’s circumstances and distractions, whether difficult or appealing. He is a focused man who knows where he is going and can lead others on the same path.
- The grateful man is a man of genuine love. Knowing the love he has been given in Jesus, he can be free to love others without worrying about what he might get in return.
