Reading Notes Template

- Background:
- With my ADHD I often find myself either getting bored with a book I am reading, or I forget what I'm reading when I see a new shiny book and start reading the new shiny, or some other expression of shiny object syndrome occurs.
This creates an environment for me that has me reading multiple books at the same time.
I've found that using Twos to help me remember, or bring my focus back to, the book I am intending to read.
I've often created a list for a book and created a task to read said book with the task being held in the list and linked to the list with the List's Universal Link.
Then I put a reminder on that task so it shows up in my daily reminders, of whatever frequency I think I need.
I've been doing this for a while and it seems to be working. But, I didn't have a way to separate the notes on a book, so now I'm trying this out.
I generally only have thoughts, questions, notes, and connections when I'm reading a book. There may be more categories of things that I use that I didn't think of this morning, if so I will try to add them to my template.
Others may already be using this type of setup, but I thought I would share it in case it might help someone else out.
If you have suggestions or additions please share in the comments.
The one thing I wish is that I was able to have thing references for connections that would allow me to keep a thing (thought, etc.) in the original list, and have a reference to that thing, not a copy, in another list that I ideated a connection with.
Right now, I have to copy the thing and then put a citation under it as a child and I've found that's just too many steps for me to do consistently. My brain says, "Oh, we can do that later." But, I never do. And by the time I remember to do it, or I see it again, I can't remember what book it came from. Plus, it tends to be a one way street. The connection links from the book I'm reading to the book I thought of a connection to, but not the other way around. This is one of the more powerful things about Roam Research that keeps me there.
