VIDEO MAKING aka CONTENT CREATION

- To make a good YouTube video (or any video), you have to remember just one rule:
- YOU SHALL NOT BE BORING OR DIRECT!
- Rule No. 1: NEVER BE BORING OR DIRECT
- ---
- How to Make a Bad Video
- Make Something General or Common: Create what people want in a very predictable way.
- Make Something Profound or Next-Level: Aim too high and create something too advanced or complex.
- In both scenarios, you miss the "eye-level" target. Either you're aiming too high or too low.
- The Only Way to Make Good Content is to Aim at Eye-Level
- Neither too basic nor too advanced: If it's too basic, people will ignore it. If it's too advanced, people won't understand it, and you'll lose their interest.
- No Idea or Genre is Bad
- It's all about how you present it. Even a simple bottle can be an engaging topic if shown correctly.
- Example: Toast Story
- NETFLIX STYLE TOAST DOCUMENTARY
- It's a netflix style documentary on toast. Normally, you might skip it, but the presentation makes it engaging and interesting.
- Believe in What You’re Making
- Sincerity: You must be sincere about your content. If you don't believe in it, how can you expect others to relate to it?
- Connection: If you're truly connected with your idea, your audience will connect with it too. This doesn't guarantee success, but it is the only way it can work.
- Honesty in Writing Before Filming
- Let's take the example of a joke:
- One person tells it well, and the audience laughs.
- Another person tells it poorly, laughing at their own joke, leaving the listeners puzzled.
- Someone else makes it so long and boring that the listeners miss the context.
- You get the idea? That it’s not the fault of Joke If people don’t laugh at it, It’s the way of telling the joke that matters.
- It’s same with your video, You can choose an Interesting Topic and Still present it badly and a Very Simple topic can be told in a way that it makes it interesting.
- Learn, What to Reveal First and What to keep for the end.
- Imagine a scene.
- Alex is on one side of a river and needs to cross to the other side. You are placing stepping stones for Alex to walk on towards the shore. Alex represents your viewer, and the river symbolizes the current flow of content that people are addicted to.
- When your reel appears in front of Alex, he looks for the first stepping stone to step on. If that stone isn't there, Alex will fall into the river and move on to someone else's content. However, if the first stone offers him a place to stand, he'll stay there for a while and quickly look for the next stone. If the first stone is placed properly, there's a 40% chance he'll watch your video.
- Each stepping stone represents a way to hold your audience's attention. If any stone is missing, the viewer will move to the next reel. As a content creator, it's your responsibility to place the stones at the proper intervals so the viewer understands what's happening and eagerly awaits the next stone.
- Every Story is kind of parable, some kind of bridge. It starts from a point, and it should create some kind of symmetry that links incidents that are not apparantely connected. - Javed Akhtar
