My Life's Mission: Why I've Spent 8 Years Building An App

- Why I quit my job at Google to build a startup to remember *things*
- Hi, thank you for being here.
- My name is Parker and I am a software developer, startup founder, and big believer in the power of writing *things* down.
- This is my story about Twos, why I've spent over 8 years building it, and how it can change your life.
- I hope you enjoy.
- What's the problem?
- The biggest, unsolved problem in our daily lives is forgetting things. It happens to everyone, every day.
- It's why people have created note apps, notebooks, post-its, calendars, and more. It's why we text and email ourselves. It's why we take photos and write things on whiteboards.
- Our brains aren't equipped to reliably remember all the information we need every day. We forget appointments, tasks, conversations, ideas, and more. This causes stress and problems in both our personal and professional lives.
- "Paper is to write things down we want to remember. Our brains are used to think." - Albert Einstein
- What's the solution?
- For the past 8 years, I've been building Twos: an app to remember & share *things*.
- *Things* are the unique technology that makes Twos an all-in-one platform to capture your thoughts, get them out of your head, and ensure you won't forget any*thing*.
- *Things* combine your notes, tasks, journal entries, calendar events, and reminders, into one simple concept.
- The most beautiful part of Twos is it's not complex or time-consuming to maintain. It's just taking a moment to write *things* down.
- With Twos, you remember *things* by quickly capturing them on your daily list.
- *Things* can be experiences organized every day, to-dos easily found in a single view, reminders quickly set with auto-date detection, events pushed and pulled to your calendar, and thoughts and ideas easily remembered.
- If you want to organize related *things* you can create a named list that is easily found with search.
- Every*thing* you capture in Twos is initially private, but you can share lists and *things* publicly via a link or on the social side of the platform we call "Twos World."
- Why is it needed?
- The current tools we use to remember & share *things* are either too one-dimensional or overly complicated.
- This leads us to spread our information in many different places or prevents us from writing *things* down in the first place.
- Rather than adding chaos to our already complex lives, Twos organizes the information you care about in one simple place.
- It's my favorite and most used app on my phone. I use it to capture random thoughts throughout the day, tasks in my personal and work life, new information I learn, and to journal and write content (like this blog).
- It's my companion, best friend, and there isn't any*thing* I can't use Twos for. I tell it *things* I want to remember when I'm not ready to tell other people or don't wish to bother them with.
- But, I can also share any*thing* when I'm ready. This deepens my relationships with others because they know it's coming from a thoughtful and honest place.
- Twos helps me remember, organize, and share all of the *things* in my life in one place so I never need to think about where something goes or where to look to find some*thing* important.
- We're improving Twos every day so your feedback will truly have a positive impact on the platform and its development.
- Twos is free to use, you own your data, and it is accessible on any device.
- I hope you'll experience the more calm, connected, and memorable life that Twos uniquely provides.
- Happy Twosday
