- "I'm the why guy. I wanna know why you do what you do. What is your motive for action? What is it that drives you in your life today?"
- Emotion is the force of life
- We don't work in our self-interest all the time, because when emotion comes in, the wiring changes in the way it functions.
- There are two master lessons in life:
- Science of achievement
- Art of fullfilment
- "And then you meet people that have been through ultimate pain. Psychologically, sexually, spiritually, emotionally abused, and not always, but often they become some of the people that contribute the most to society"
- YOUR BIOGRAPHY IS NOT YOUR DESTINY
- Q: When people fail to achieve their goals... what are the reasons they give?
Didn't have enough: time, money, technology, contacts, experiences - a claim to you missing resources and they may be accurate but that is not the defining factor. The defining factor is never resources but resourcefulness:
- Resourcefulness: creativity, determination, love/caring, curiosity, passion, resolve.
- If we get the right emotion, we can get ourselves to do anything.
- 3 Decisions of Destiny
- These are the 3 decisions we are making every moment of our lives
- What am I going to focus on? (focus = feeling)
- What does it mean? (Is it the end or the beginning? Are you being punished or rewarded?)
- What are you going to do?
- If... differente decisions = Different life
Then... We've all had moments of decision that have shaped us
If you had made a different decision, your life would be extremely different
- The 2 primary patterns:
The invisible forces that shape us
- In the moment: our 'state' (physical/emotional)
- Long-term: our model of the World/World view: the shaper of meaning, emotion and action
- Q: What is our Model of the World made of... 3 FORCES:
Force 1: Driving Force - Target - Motive
Force 2: Guiding Force - Map - Meaning
- "You like the surprises you want. The ones you don't want, you call problems - but you need them”
- Q: If people share the same needs, why do they behave so differently?
- Some needs we value more than others (growth, certainty, significance, variety, love)
- The beliefs you have about what you have to do to meet those needs
- "From now on, everyday, give your all, love your all, don't let anything ever stop you”
