How to find your "IT"
by Parker · 29 things on NewTwos
- Hey man, landed on ur page a while back and it led me to Twos which I've been using for a few months now to do my daily/weekly goals, and miscellaneous things I need to write down (love Twos). I'm an SWE with a similar goal that you have, to create something that helps other people. My question is how you found that idea that you wanted to throw yourself at. I have a ton of ideas for products that would fill some sort of void, but it hasn't been that IT idea for me. How did you find your IT? Thank you
- What is "IT"?
- I define "IT" as what gives your life meaning.
- "IT" could be your job, a hobby, how you treat people, anything.
- "IT" gets you out of bed in the morning.
- "IT" inspires you when times get hard and motivates you when you're tired.
- To find my "IT", I first found my “why.”
- How I found my "why"
- In 2017, I was listening to Lewis Howes’ School of Greatness podcast, and his guest, Dean Graziosi, shared a simple exercise called 7 levels Deep.
- The exercise is 7 questions to help find your "why."
- I did the exercise and was immediately blown away by what I discovered about myself.
- I had spent the first 21 years of my life living to make other people happy and it wasn't making me happy.
- What made me come alive was learning about myself, working on being my best, and helping other people do the same.
- What I did with my "why"
- I wanted to help more people learn about themselves, find their "why," and live a life with intention.
- I could only find a PDF version of 7 Levels Deep so I built 7LevelsDeep.com to help people discover their "why."
- I’ve learned a lot about myself through writing and reflecting, so I built ReflectWithMuse.com to provide daily prompts to help people learn about themselves.
- I also built TwosApp.com to help people write, remember, and share things—tasks, bullet notes, and memories.
- Having a private place to write things down helps us be honest with ourselves, but sharing and connecting with other people helps them do the same.
- I see a big opportunity in simplifying people's lives, helping them write and reflect more, and helping them share and connect more deeply.
- How to find your "IT"
- To find your "IT", go inside.
- Reflect, write, ask questions.
- Get to know yourself on a deeper level and always stay curious.
- Spend time reflecting and learning about yourself rather than listening to what other people are telling you to do.
- But most importantly keep building and growing your skillset.
- You’ll find "IT" :)
- Happy Twosday
