Notes &
Grandfather Surovec
My grandfather, your friend, husband, father, brother, loved one is gone. There will be no more memories; but we shouldn’t be selfish. There will be no more pain for him. Pain we will not remember. Time will polish our memories of him. Washing away the sadness we feel now, leaving only the best memories to sparkle like stars in the old forgotten country sky. We will share and pass them on to legend. I will. So the children of my grandchildren will know where they came from: a husband, a father, a korean veteran, a hard-working family man. My grandfather— he’s made the trip.
