She stepped out of the shower leaving the comfort of warm water, steam, and the arms of the man she once loved. It was still early but that was the shift she worked. So, she hurried to the mirror to cover the bruises on her face and wipe the blood and flesh from her mouth. She smiled as the towel stained red and her face came clean.  She took the few steps it took to get to the shower in the small bathroom and turned it off. Watching just for a moment the blood still spinning down the drain—the smile grew. 

The water washed over her slender almost perfect pale body. Valerie lifted her head and let the warm water trickle the thick redness off her lips, down her body to the spiral that leads into the drain. She stepped out of the shower leaving the comfort of the warm water, steam, and the arms of the man she once loved. It was still early but that was the shift she worked at the local diner. Val looked into the mirror at her naked bruised body with a smile of relief, knowing she would never have to cover it again with long shirts and make-up after today. She tossed her compact into the trash as she took the few steps it took to get to the shower in the small bathroom.
